New in Los Angeles.  Convenient home detox for alcohol, opiate dependence and withdrawal

By Mark Ariel

Executive Home Detox offers personal, private and convenient home detox for alcohol or opiate dependence

This unique service provides an expert clinician to oversee a medically managed detoxification program. This clinician remains in the home of the client 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the detox is completed.

Executive Home Detox is the brainchild of William Carrick, a Registered Nurse certified in addictions. “I got involved in the field of addictions through my work in the mental health field and my personal experience with alcohol misuse and drug use,” explains Carrick. “I have been working in mental health and addictions since 1983 and have been in recovery from alcohol abuse since 1987.”

“The motivation to start Executive Home Detox was simple,” says Carrick. “I wanted to provide treatment access to clients who felt institutional care was a barrier to treatment.”

The primary advantages of remaining in your home, explains Carrick, are “privacy, comfort, convenience, and a unique individual plan of care just for the client. He or she receives expert one to one addiction care and treatment throughout the medical detox.” The program is as simple or as complicated as it needs to be.

“One expert nurse moves in with the client. Essentially as a private duty nurse. We monitor or supervise their medical detox 24 hours a day, for as long as the medical detox requires. We are accessible to the client at all times. One nurse works with the client from beginning to end. This provides a seamless continuum of care and the utmost in privacy and confidentiality. We always work with, and have access to, a qualified physician.”

The typical duration of a program, says Carrick, is seven days for an alcohol home detox and ten days for most opiate home detoxes. These minimums can vary but that is the starting point for most clients. “We always assist the client with aftercare plans and often accompany them to their first appointment. Aftercare plans may include individual therapy, physician services / medication management, early recovery groups, and other supports as needed. We can access sober companions and coaches when desired. Upon completion of the medical detox we provide follow up contact with our clients; daily for seven days, weekly for four weeks, and monthly for four months.”

The ideal client traits for this treatment model, says Carrick, include:

  • A motivation or incentive to move toward a healthier lifestyle.
  • A willingness and trust to follow basic advice and work with competent experts.

Discretion and privacy are a few of the advantages of Executive Home Detox. “It wouldn’t be good for my business for people to know about my problem, but I needed to do something about it,” reveals a past client.

“Executive Home Detox was completely discreet. Nobody realized my ‘colleague from out of town’ was monitoring my health and medically helping me through the detox at home.”

Many consumers in Los Angeles want to keep their business private, want minimal records kept about their care, and want the comfort and convenience of treatment at home.  Executive Home Detox is the solution for this client.
